Bogle the hero as Solihull Moors turn in their best performance of the season

SOLIHULL have been so badly hit by injuries and suspensions that manager Marcus Bignot named himself on the subs bench - and coach Darren Acton!

On 15 minutes, a Ryan Beswick free kick from 20 yards beat the keeper but Gary Birch was narrowly out jumped to apply the finishing touch. Three minutes later, Birch found Beswick inside the 18 yard box but the shot flew over the bar.

With 10 minutes of the half remaining, Moors opened the scoring. A great run by Luke Connolly saw the ball passed to Bogle who beat three defenders before a left footed shot to the right hand corner of the net gave the keeper no chance. Seven minutes later Beswick drilled a corner into the Town box and there again was Bogle to execute a thumping header to send Moors in two goals up at half time.

Moors came straight out looking to extend their lead after the interval. A free kick from 20 yards was despatched by Bogle exquisitely into the top right corner of the net to give the striker his hat trick - the first ever away treble by a Solihull player.

On 59 minutes Moors attacked down the left flank and were awarded another free kick when Nowakoski literally picked up Samson Joseph in a tackle; Beswick chose a short ball to Knights who crossed perfectly and from a poor clearance captain Tom Kemp stepped up to rifle in a low drive for Solihull’s fourth goal.

A ray of light finally appeared for Town when Knights sliced a clearance which went backwards and the unfortunate Singh was penalised for catching it – the referee treating it as a back pass. From the free kick on the penalty spot, Singh stopped the shot which ricocheted into the net for Town’s first of the afternoon after 71 minutes.

With a minute left, a penalty was awarded when Beswick was adjudged to have had his foot high in a tackle. Dean duly converted but it did not matter – Solihull Moors had produced what some fans were already saying was their best team performance ever.

On Saturday Moors entertain third placed Brackley Town at Damson Park kick off 3pm.
