Highgate United 1
Causeway United 1
A MUCH improved Highgate performance failed to produce the win so desperately needed to pull Marcus McDonald’s side away from the relegation zone.
Yet the Highgate boss was still pleased with the draw against a Causeway outfit who have lost just twice on their travels so far this season.
Gate had started the match brightly but with Michael Glynn, Gordon Swain and Tom Reynolds all lacking the composure required to put away half chances, the two evenly matched sides went in at half time goalless.
The pattern continued after the break, Cox in the home goal saving well from Stuart How and visiting defender Carl Hind doing well to prevent Tom Giddings from converting Reynolds quickly taken free kick at the far post.
With twenty minutes remaining Highgate punished Causeway for a foul on Tobias Salmon twenty five yards out, Swain scoring direct from the resulting free kick with keeper Joel Skeldon rooted to his line. But the lead was short lived and ten minutes later poor defending off a Causeway corner presented David Plinston with the opportunity to head in the equaliser from close range.

Earlswood Town (Res) 3
Steve Smith scored Sils’ equaliser for 1-1 and then Curtis Karim blasted a magnificent hat-trick - including the winner in the second half of extra time - after normal time had ended 3-3.
Karim, who was only beat to man-of-the-match by the excellent defensive display by Tommy Smith, even managed to score directly from a corner kick!

Boldmere F.S. 2
Shirley Athletic 3
Shirley edged a top-of-the-table clash against Boldmere on Saturday, with a fortunate goal opening the scoring.
Tom Daffurns had a shot which thumped the crossbar, but the ball luckily hit the ’keeper’s backside on its way back out and landed in the net.
Mike Mountford scored a brilliant goal to make it 2-0 to Shirley, before Boldmere pulled one back early in the second 45.
However Shirley retained their two goal advantage after Steve Ruck won and scored a penalty, meaning Boldmere’s late strike was nothing but a consolation.
