Clean sheet for Solihull's Highgate United

Highgate United 0

Highgate United 0

Loughborough University 0

FIVE points out of the last nine and three league games undefeated reflects the improvement shown by a Highgate team heavily defeated just a month ago by the students.

Bossing the early stages DJ Pitt was presented with the first chance, hitting an angled drive off keeper Daniel Lowton’s body into the side netting, then lifting Liam Florey’s pass over the bar when positioned at the foot of the near post.

Loughborough counterattacked with both Jordan Barker and Alun Webb off target at the other end, Gate then being grateful to Shawn Edwards for producing three excellent saves to deny Daniel N’ti twice and the pacey Webb.

Jake Brown finished the half with a good opportunity fired into the side netting, Gate keeping up the momentum after the break, another chance falling to Pitt whose shot was saved by Lowton at point blank range.

Dan Dineen wasn’t far off target with a 30- yard volley off Tom Reynold’s cushioned pass, Karl King then having a string of attempts hit either wide or into Lowton’s body.

George Nash tested Edwards from long distance but Gate’s defence stood firm in the face of late pressure, the hosts finishing the strongest with King guiding Pitt’s cross wide from a good position and Reynolds sending a far post header into the keeper’s body.
