Close to drop zone after a third defeat

SOLIHULL remain perilously close to the Conference North drop zone, after a single goal condemned them to a third successive defeat.

The Moors started the brighter of the two teams, and it was they who had the first opportunity, a goal bound shot from Jake Edwards being clawed away by Workington’s Tony Caig.

It was a stop and start first half, which was littered with free kicks – but just before half time it was the home side who took the lead through Gareth Arnison.

Arnison nearly doubled the home side’s advantage early in the second-half when he broke clear in a one-on-one with Danny Crane, but the Solihull ‘keeper made a good double save.

For all their possession, opportunities to score for Solihull were rare, with Ross Dempster and Theo Street, both going the closest late on.

* Solihull face Corby Town at home tomorrow (Damson Park, 3pm).
