Coldlands Colts under 9s won a very closely fought final at Hampton’s tournament against Shirley Town last weekend. The tournament consisted of 10 teams from the Central Warwickshire league.
The Colts team have played together since they were six and will be moving forward this season to play in the second division of the Central Warwickshire League under 10s.
Coldlands played well through the group stage, progressing to the semi-finals after a match against Sheldon Royals.
Here they faced Bartley Reds which was won 4-0, setting up the final against Shirley Town.
In the group stages, Shirley had beaten Coldlands 2-0 and won the group. It was a different affair in the final though.
In a tight match with few chances and 0-0 at full time, the match went to extra time, the stalemate being eventually broken by a Daniel Watkiss strike to seal victory
