Pilkington XXX 0
Earlswood Town 3
EARLSWOOD finished in eighth position in their first spell in the Midland Combination Premier after beating Pilkington in their last game of the season.
Earls took the lead after five minutes when Steve Ruck found the net.
Earls extended their lead a couple of minutes before the break when Laurence Martin put a long ball through to Ruck who hit a low shot past the advancing keeper.
It was Earl’s keeper Mark Sheils who was first into action in the second half with a good save after 49 minutes.
Pilkington then forced a succession of corners which were finally cleared by the Earlswood defence.
In the 88th minute Earls increased their lead when Junior Hewitt headed the ball over the advancing keeper’s outstretched hands and calmly hit a low shot into the empty net. It was a welcome three points for Earls who have finished the season losing only one of their last six games.
