THE Earlswood Town teams played competitive friendlies last week in their bid to get some match practice for the start of the season especially as they have a preliminary round of the FA Cup to play very early on in the season.
On Thursday night they won a hard earned but deserving 3-1 victory against Coventry Sphinx who finished third in the Midland Alliance last season.
On Saturday Earlswood firsts played another friendly when the entertained Bewdley Town.
It was Earlswood who went closest to opening the scoring when Kyle Turner forced the visiting keeper to push the ball on to a post before it was cleared. Bewdley were awarded a penalty after eight minutes when one of their players was brought down in Earls’ penalty area and made no mistake from the spot. And four minutes later Earls’ keeper Leach pushed the ball onto a post and a forward following up headed home. The visitors were playing some good football by now but were not having everything their own way as Kyle Turner hit the post again after 20 minutes. But it was the visitors who extended their lead and the final score was 5-3.
