Southam Utd 1 Earlswood Town 1
EARLSWOOD created enough chances to have won this Midlands Combination premier division encounter but had to be content to come away from Southam with a point.
Earls kicked off with the advantage of a slight wind behind them and took the lead as early as the fifth minute when a Joe Wykes cross was hit high into the Southam net by livewire Dale Edwards.
After seven minutes, Earls conceded a foul in their own half and the free kick sent Smith away for Southam but after rounding Leach he put the final effort wide.
After 10 minutes, Earlswood’s Laurence Martin forced Southam keeper Oliver Manuel into a good save pushing the ball round the post to concede a corner. Earls won two more quick corners after this but to no avail.
Eight minutes into the second half the hosts equalised when keeper Neil Leach mis-judged the ball and Simeon Smith took advantage to lob it over him and tap it into the net to put the scores level.
It was all a far cry from midweek when Earls had beaten Bloxwich United 5-0, Sam Wills, Charisma Aboglahor (2), Jak Walton and Ben Judd getting the goals.
Earls currently sit sixth in the league, 11 points behind leaders Walsall Wood.
On Saturday they face Nuneaton Griff at home, kick off 3pm.
