A FINE display from red-carded Coleshill Town keeper Craig Johnson denied Highgate United their first league win of the season.
The ten-man hosts struggled throughout but held on for a 0-0 draw as last year's promoted teams lined up against each other in the Midland Alliance.
Johnson saved well from Kieran Robotham early on and then produced another impressive save to deny Liam O'Shea.
At the other end Perry Cox had to be alert to deny Coleshill's Neil Kitching, but the visitors ended the opening half strongly with Jake Sammon dispatching a 30-yard drive just too high and Johnson standing his ground to prevent O'Shea for a second time.
After the break Johnson pulled off yet another save to deny Chris Gummery but then received his marching orders for up ending Highgate's own Neil Kitching just outside the box.
However the visitors were unable to take advantage of the extra man and their only worthwhile effort late on was a 15-yard strike from Chris Hayden which failed to test stand-in keeper Richard Kavanagh.
On Saturday Highgate are back in cup action when they visit Oldbury United in the FA Vase (ko 3pm). Gate are at home on Tuesday when Bridgnoth Town are the visitors in the league (7.45pm)
