Biddulph Victoria 1 - 1 Highgate United

HIGHGATE manager Marcus McDonald was left frustrated at the half-time abandonment of a match his side looked favourites to go on and win.

With McDonald looking to record back-to-back wins following last week’s victory over Coleshill, Michael Batchelor returned to the starting line up to resume captaincy of the side. Biddulph took the early initiative and following a series of corners took an eighth minute lead when James Madrow beat keeper Perry Cox.

Gate’s response was immediate and after Will Smith had turned Tobias Salmon’s near post ninth minute effort behind for a corner, Carpenter made it a dream debut by drilling home Nick Hall’s resulting kick.

Flamengo 1-1 Shirley Athletic

BEN Ince bagged the opener for Shirley on 15 minutes, when he volleyed in a Mike Mountford corner. Flamengo stuck to their usual style of play - defending and counter attacking - and grabbed an equaliser just before half time.

Village 2 - 1 Silhill

HOME side Village opened the scoring after goalkeeper Andy Masters parried a shot into the path of onrushing winger Matt Antrobus.

Village then spurned two chances to increase their lead, one neutralised by an outstanding save from Masters. Then Tom Mackenzie missed out, having been put through by Curtis Karim and Smith.

Village waited until the 82nd minute to increase their lead to 2-0 when their right winger Matt Stanczyszyn fed his centre forward Ryan Allen who slotted in from an acute angle.

Three short minutes elapsed before Silhill ace Karim arrowed an inspired ball to his fellow forward Steve Smith, who chested it and shot clinically into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

AFA - Division 3
Silhill (3rds) 1 - 1 Erdington Albion

SILHILL striker Jamie Edwards lashed past visiting net-man Dan Greatrex on 38 minutes, after receiving a ball from captain Brett Brown.

Just before halftime however, Albion equalised when their forward Chris Morlock followed in a cross by German.

An even second half resulted in no further goals and a deserved sharing of the points.
