HIGHGATE’S bubble burst at Coventry Sphinx on Monday as the home side recorded a 1-0 victory, ending the visitors’ five-match winning run in the Midland Football Alliance Division 1.
The defeat came after Gate disposed of Walsall Wood 2-1 on Saturday through two Lei Brown strikes.
Brown’s first goal came when the front man latched on to a ball played into the box and turned a defender before firing in under the body of Faultless.
But Wood piled on the pressure in the second half and there was an air of inevitability about their 82nd minute equaliser as the ball dropped for Harris to score from close-range.
With their winning run at risk, Gate responded in positive fashion five minutes from the end.
Adams unsettled a defender in his attempts to clear and the ball found its way across the box, where Brown drilled the ball low into the bottom of the net.
On Saturday Highgate travel to play Heath Hayes.
