Hampton-in-Arden Men 13
Solihull Blossomfield Men 1
HAMPTON’S men’s 1st team hit their 100th goal of the season as they trounced their derby rivals.
This outstanding performance was led by Hampton’s Dafydd Bowles who was seemingly unstoppable.
The scoring supremo picked up a hat-trick of hat-tricks, putting on a showcase of technique, with drag flick goals, chips over the keeper, reverse stick and open stick rockets.
His nine goals take him to a table-topping 65 goals for the season, more than any other player across the Midlands hockey leagues.
His amazing individual display and best goal turnover in a single game coincided with Hampton’s equal best result of the season, this being the second occasion that they have won by a tally of 12, the first coming in September’s home victory over Tamworth.
Hampton had already taken the lead through Bowles when they allowed Blossomfield to score, but letting a goal in was all the motivation that was needed for Hampton to pick up their efforts and Blossomfield rarely troubled the defence after that. Hampton went into half-time at 4-1 up, with Rhys Doherty joining Bowles on the scoresheet.
The second half belonged to Hampton and alongside Bowles collecting a further six goals, Doherty picked up his second, with Matt Hall and Tim Lines also getting in on the act.
Hampton finish the season in third place.
