Highgate United 0 Stourport Swifts 2
TUESDAY prove a disappointing night for Highgate who worked hard against second placed Stourport only to concede two goals after the break, the second a controversial penalty harshly awarded for handball.
Gate contained the visitors during a goalless first half, creating the better chances.
However goalkeeper Shawn Edwards was beaten by Lewis Pountney’s far post header for the opening 57th minute goal before the handball incident led to John Griffin crashing home the resulting 83rd minute penalty
The result followed on from Gate’s 3-1 loss away to Continental Star.
The Solihull side looked to have rescued a point after going behind within the opening four minutes when Liam Florey equalised from a second half penalty.
However Aaron Garvey’s late brace inflicted yet another defeat on the visitors who slipped back into the bottom three.
The fixture gained added significance following wins for fellow strugglers Ellesmere and Heath Hayes but Gate disappointed as their improved form of late deserted them.
On Saturday Highgate entertain Boldmere St Michaels (3pm).
