* Alvechurch 3 Highgate United 2
HIGHGATE’s mid-week misery continued when they were beaten by Alvechurch on Tuesday.
Injuries had forced manager Peter Frain into wholesale changes to the line up which had performed so heroically at Boldmere just four days previously and although his side started well enough they found themselves behind to James McWilliams’ deflected shot after 22 minutes.
Neil Kitching equalised just three minutes later firing home the loose ball after Chris Gummery’s shot had come back off the foot of the post. Chris Sterling put the hosts into a two goal lead with goals in 50th and 69th minutes but Gate set up a tense final few minutes for the hosts when substitute Ryan Morgan struck late on.
* Meir 0 Knowle 0
A SEVEN-game winning streak was ended last week when Knowle were held by Midland Combination Premier basement-boys Meir KA.
In windy conditions, and a surface that looked a lot better than it played, Knowle created three decent chances in the first half, most notably a Scott Oliver glancing header that the home keeper did well to save. The second half continued in the same vein with the Robins unable to find that elusive goal.
Tomorrow Knowle take on Bartley Green.
* Earlswood Town 2 Stockingford A.A 1
RED-HOT Michael Hollis netted a double for the second successive week, as Earlswood beat Stockingford A.A.
The striker scored in both halves to cancel out the visitors opener.
* Flamengo 2 Silhill 1
SILHILL let an early lead slip when they lost to newly-promoted Flamengo in the AFA Premier last weekend.
Andy McDonagh had put the visitors ahead early on but a quick-fire brace from Tim Egan gave Flamengo a deserved win.
Elsewhere Ryan Long scored a brace for Shirley as they beat AFC Somers 2-0.
Tomorrow the two face each other in the prestigious Bham FA County Junior Cup, at Ray Hall Lane, Great Barr (2.00pm).
