BATTERED and bruised Centurion RC gained promotion to Division Two of the Birmingham & District Cross Country League after a battling performance at Stafford Common last weekend.

BATTERED and bruised Centurion RC gained promotion to Division Two of the Birmingham & District Cross Country League after a battling performance at Stafford Common last weekend.

The injury-hit side started the race with two of their main scorers nursing injuries that were sure to slow them down or even force them to drop out.

Fortunately, Ian Satterthwaite managed to get round without further damage to his hamstring and was pleased to finish in 25th position and fourth scorer for the team.

Tom Healy was not so lucky with his turned ankle troubling him throughout and he had to settle for 65th position and outside the club’s scorers.

Healy’s set back was more than compensated for by the excellent performances of Paul Davies 9th, Richard White 10th, and Paul Bingham 11th supported by Marc Curtis 43rd and Lee Taylor 46th who, together with Ian’s 25th position, brought the team home in fourth place on the day and third in the overall league table.

Centurions were promoted alongside champions Royal Sutton AC and second-placed Cannock & Staffs AC.
