HE’S the midfield dynamo of Solihull Moors and last week the mighty Junior English became their first player to smash through the 200 appearances barrier.
The Hall Green resident has been as Moors man through and through despite spells at Walsall and Blues where he credits their youth coaching team for teaching him so much about football.
He joined Moor Green junior team at 17 from Solihull College, and made his first team debut in November 2004.
Now under manager Marcus Bignot he is flourishing in the key midfield role, although he’s just as happy up front.
“I didn’t really know myself that I’d played 200 games for the club,” said the Severn Trent customer relations worker.
“It’s gone so quickly; when I first started it was all about the experienced players but now under Marcus the emphasis is on youth, which is a good thing because that’s how I got my start and we’re starting to get the results too.”
Junior, who’s girlfriend gave birth to baby Carlos two months ago, has no plans of changing clubs.
“I like being at Solihull Moors, there are a lot of great people at the club from the Gaffer on, but I suppose you can never say never in football. Considering what we’re up against we’re doing a good job here,” he said.
