KNOWLE Juniors, already U13s Central Warwickshire Premier Division League champions, met Selly Oak-based Vikings in the Open Cup Final last weekend.
The Vikings had challenged Knowle to the title from the start of the season and now stood in their way to a League and Cup Double.
Both teams had an equal share of possession in the first 15 minutes without either side settling down due in part to the occasion and the large support from family and friends,
Chances went begging at both ends but a superb corner from John Townley who placed the ball in the six yard box lead to a frantic triple clearance and then fell to Hayden Burke who found a path through the crowded penalty area to slot home to give Knowle Juniors the lead.
The second half saw Vikings with nothing to lose push forward but they couldn’t unlock the defence.
The lads have conceded fewer goals than any team in all six divisions of the U13 league and goalkeeper Callaghan McLaughlin and skipper Nathan Brown duly mopped up any Viking raids to clinch a League and Cup double.
