TWO trophies came back to Lyndon School last week as both the Year 7 and Year 10 football teams impressed on the road.
The youngsters were crowned Solihull Champions after beating Alderbrook 5-2 at Wast Hills while the Year 10 side edged past Windsor High 3-2 to become West Midlands Champions.
A brace from Sam Lyndon as well as single goals from Ian Evans, Joel Bartlett and Nathan Brown helped the Year 7’s scoop the trophy.
At The Grove, Halesowen, the Year 10’s nearly gave away a 3-0 half-time lead.
Mitchell Hancox fired in Omar Recci’s right-hand cross and minutes later he added his second and doubled Lyndon’s lead with yet another assist from Recci.
Just before the break Hancox turned provider as he found Recci who made it 3-0 at the break.
After the interval Windsor pulled one back and Lyndon had goalkeeper Jonathon Lowe to thank for keeping his side in the game.
But with just six minutes to go Windsor scored again to set up a nervy finish.
Lyndon reverted to a five-man defence but a dogged performance and one final clearance from Ryan Nugent was enough for the referee to blow his whistle and spark wild celebrations amongst the team.
