Alfreton Town 4 Solihull Moors 1
FORMER Moors striker Danny Davidson came back to haunt Bob Faulkner’s side for the SECOND time this season with a brace at the Impact Arena.
The giant marksman who left Damson Park in the summer bagged in each half to make it three goals this season against the club where he had spent the previous two years.
Moors’ miserable away form showed no signs of improving as the 29-year-old notched after just two minutes.
Captain Lee Collins then turned the ball into his own net and Brian Cusworth added a third just before half time as Alfreton ran riot.
Super sub Mark Gardner came on shortly after half time as Faulkner tried to liven things up but last week’s hero struggled to make an impact against the resolute home defence.
Davidson and strike partner Jordan Hall were causing Collins and Liam Daly all sorts of problems but the introduction of Theo Streete gave Moors some much-needed muscle in front of the backline.
But there was no stopping Davidson who added his fourth league goal of the season after 73 minutes.
Liam Daly thundered in a trademark header late as Moors grabbed their first away Blue Square North goal for four games but there was no way back for the Solihull side.
Bob Faulkner admitted last week that his side needed to improve their away form after picking up just two league wins on their travels this season.
He will be bitterly disappointed with the defeat but hopeful of making up for the loss with a win against Unibond Division One North side Durham City in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
