Moors look to get on track again

SOLIHULL Moors attempt to get their Blue Square Bet North campaign back on track this Saturday when they host Stalybridge Celtic at Damson Park.

SOLIHULL Moors attempt to get their Blue Square Bet North campaign back on track this Saturday when they host Stalybridge Celtic at Damson Park.

It follows Moors first home defeat of the season when they suffered a 1-0 reverse against arch rivals AFC Telford.

Moors’ cause wasn’t helped when defender Phil Midworth failed a late fitness test.

That meant a reshuffle in the back four with Dominic Langdon having to partner Henry Eze in central defence while Colm Tiernan and Sam Adkins occupied the full back berths.

Moors played second fiddle to Telford in the first half and fell behind on 18 minutes when Alex Meecham capitalised on an error by Eze to smash home.

The second half was a different story as Telford had to thank their shotstopper Ryan Young for keeping Moors out. Young saved on 58 minutes, turning Adam Cunnington’s shot onto the post.

Both Matty West and Cunnington were then denied by Young who also saved a stoppage time effort from Simon Johnson.

Moors have been handed a home tie in the FA Cup when they host Evo-Stik Division One South side Kidsgrove Athletic on September 25. Kidsgrove knocked out former FA Cup giant-killers Chasetown in the last round 3-0.
