Solihull Moors 2 Hyde United 2
ANOTHER two points were dropped at Damson Park on Saturday as Moors failed to see off Hyde in a tense bottom-of-the-table clash.
The home side should have had the game wrapped up midway through the second half but a host of missed chances again let them down.
After just two minutes the game burst into life when the visitors fortunately took the lead through a Liam Daly own goal.
The former Birmingham City academy player simply passed the ball back to goalkeeper Danny Crane, but it bobbled over his foot and trickled into the empty net.
Justice was done after 12 minutes though when the towering defender made up for his misfortune with a powerful header at the right end to level the scores.
Peter Faulds struck the post minutes later but Moors took the lead on 36 minutes when Jason Moore gave keeper Craig Dootson no chance with his wonderfully-crafted overhead kick from a Carl Motteram cross.
The buoyant striker then missed a guilt edge chance to double his side’s lead as Hyde struggled to get out of their own half.
After the break Moors came out strong but Jake Edwards twice failed to hit the target after he was gifted two glorious opportunities inside the box.
As time ticked by, Hyde clawed their way back into the game and Clee equalised on 70 minutes to set up an entertaining finish.
Chris Simm screwed his one-on-one effort wide with just Crane to beat, and Marcus Palmer, and Faulds missed late chances for the hosts.
New signing Mark Gardner thought he had grabbed the winner late on but his effort was ruled out for offside and the points were shared.
Moors travel to Alfreton Town on Saturday.
