Moors return to action with Alvechurch visit

SOLIHULL Moors kick-off their pre-season campaign with a trip to Aspire Midland Football Alliance side Alvechurch next week.

SOLIHULL Moors kick-off their pre-season campaign with a trip to Aspire Midland Football Alliance side Alvechurch next week.

And Tuesday's visit to Lye Meadow will give supporters the chance to see new signings Simon Travis, Michael Tuohy and Jake Sedgemore in a Moors shirt for the first time.

Bob Faulkner's side have lined up five friendlies prior to the start of the new Blue Square North season with their first at Damson Park on Friday, July 18, when Burton Albion will be the visitors. They are also set to face Birmingham City, Stratford Town and Leamington.

The draw for the first round of the Setanta Shield has been made and Solihull face a mouth-watering local derby with Redditch United.

The Moors will visit United's Valley Stadium ground on Tuesday, September 9, when they will be looking to get one over their local rivals.

Both sides endured a stop-start campaign last season with Redditch narrowly finishing above Moors in the Blue Square North table.

However the Damson Park outfit will be boosted by a win and a draw against the Reds last season.

Solihull fell at the first hurdle last season when goals from Jason Moore and Danny Davidson were not enough to see off AFC Telford United, the Shropshire side progressing into the second round with a 3-2 victory.
