MOORS suffered a third defeat on their travels but must have thought they were set to bag the points at half time against second placed Workington.

Their task wasn’t helped when they lost Colm Tiernan to a bad tackle by Workington’s Shaun Vipond after just 10 minutes.

That didn’t stop Moors dominating the first half where both Matty West and Adam Cunnington had plenty of chances to open their account.

Moors finally went ahead from the penalty spot, Ryan Beswick converting after Junior English was tripped on 41 minutes. Workington looked a different proposition in the second half and pegged Moors back in their own half for long periods.

Goalkeeper Jasbir Singh pulled off a series of fine saves, while Moors defence was superbly marshalled by skipper Theo Streete and Henry Eze.

Moors finally cracked with just three minutes remaining when Phil Midworth diverted the ball past Singh for an own goal.

Worse was to follow in stoppage time when Singh fumbled a shot and Garth Arnison pounced to score.

Moors: Singh; Midworth, Langdon, Eze, Streete, Tiernan (Adkins 15), Grandison (Sheldon), English, Cunnington, West (Lea 85), Beswick. Subs not used: Dempster, Rachel.

n THIS Saturday Moors will be looking for a bumper crowd when they host third placed AFC Telford at Damson Park (3pm).
