Earlswood Town 2 Chelmsley Town 1
A LAST-gasp penalty from super-sub Richard Maguire sent Earlswood into the second round of the Endsleigh Cup on Saturday.
After a drab opening to the game the hosts started to take control and both Adam Holland and Andy Keenahan went close to breaking the deadlock.
Reserve goalkeeper John Dunham was playing his part in keeping the scores level though after producing a number of saves to keep Chelmsley at bay.
Five minutes into the second half Earls had the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside.
However there was no controversy surrounding the opener which came on 84 minutes when Maguire jinxed his down the right wing and crossed for Keenahan to hit home.
In the dying stages Chemsley converted a dubious penalty but there was still time for Earlswood to grab the win.
Again the referee awarded another penalty that seemed harsh on the opposition when Maguire went down in the area.
But the striker was not complaining as he smashed in the winner to help the hosts' progress.
