Selby steps in to serve up promotion whitewash

BERKSWELL and Balsall Common Tennis Club’s men’s first team kept up their promotion charge with a 4-0 demolition of Nuneaton.

BERKSWELL and Balsall Common Tennis Club’s men’s first team kept up their promotion charge with a 4-0 demolition of Nuneaton.

Second team captain Graham Selby stepped in as a replacement for Ted Bloom and partnered David Green to a 2-6 6-4 10-8 (championship tie-break) victory over Sam Opie and Callum Shaw. The pair went on to beat Nuneaton’s second pair Shaun Garrett and Stuart Hamilton 6-3 7-6.

Paul Westall and Ivor Bowen sealed the win, beating both Nuneaton pairs in straight sets, 7-5 7-6 and 6-1 7-5.
