Sheldon lad Tom Bowkett to blow the whistle on football refereeing

TOM Bowkett, a level five referee with Birmingham County Football Association, has been selected to join the newly formed RA-FA Youth Council.

TOM Bowkett, a level five referee with Birmingham County Football Association, has been selected to join the newly formed RA-FA Youth Council.

Tom, aged 22 from Sheldon, is one of 12 young people who have been selected as council members for the 2012-13 season.

The standard of applications to join with council was high, with 79 young people across eight regions and 31 County Football Associations submitting applications.

The purpose of the council is to enable young referees to have their say and influence the training, education and support of young officials across the country.

Tom said: “Being part of this initiative will allow me to express the views of young officials from around the region and across the country.”
