RYAN Long inspired Shirley to a third round win over local rivals Wake Green in the Birmingham Junior Cup.
The striker struck two goals to help his side into the quarter-finals.
The visitors started the better but Shirley slowly crept into control and Scott Kite was unfortunate to have an early header ruled out by the referee.
But after 20 minutes Shirley were rewarded for their patience when Long headed in a Paddy Fanning cross.
On the hour mark the home side extended their lead when Kerry Curtis' cross eluded everyone and flew into the net.
Substitute Ben Ince did well when he came on and had a hand in Long's 25-yard screamer.
Tomorrow Shirley travel to Halesowen to take on AFC Somers.
