MANAGER Paul Curran was left cursing a host of missed chances as Shirley were beaten by Erin Go Bragh after extra time in the Birmingham County Junior Cup semi-final.
After just 15 minutes the visitors were 2-0 down as they struggled to deal with Erin Go Bragh’s long-ball tactics.
Two route-ones were clinically finished off as the hosts broke with pace.
But Shirley kept probing and got their reward when Ryan Long pulled one back from close range.
With just five minutes remaining Matt Shaw saw his effort crash off the cross bar - however Long was in the right place at the right time as he poked the ball into the back of the net to force the tie into extra-time.
A disastrous start saw the home side retake the lead once more.
Then Shirley were given a lifeline when Erin Go Bragh were reduced to 10-men
after a midfielder heatbutted Ben Ince.
But a controversial goal - which looked offside - just before the end of the first 15, wrapped up the win.
