Cradley Town 0 – 0 Highgate United
Highgate disappointed during a first half dominated by the home side, and were lucky that their opponents failed to score despite all the chances they created.
Gate did threaten themselves with Michael Williams cutting inside to test keeper Luke Cunningham at his near post and Tom Thacker just missing a cross. Minutes after the break, new goalkeeper Chris Butler saved bravely to block Ludlow’s far post effort, but in the 50th minute Gate were dealt a blow when Williams appeared to be harshly sent off for what looked like a strong but fair challenge.
The ten men raised their game and there were a host of chances made and wasted as the game drew to a nil all draw.
Knowle Reserves 1 – 2 Shirley Athletic
A period of pressure by Shirley 20 minutes in paid off when a Matty Whitehouse deep cross to the far post found Ben Ince, who calmly nodded in. But the lead was short lived, as after five minutes, Knowle equalised.
In the second half, Mike Mountford’s weak shot was guided into the net by Simon Jamieson to hand Shirley a slender but deserved victory.
Silhill 0 – 2 Handsworth GSOB
As Silhill failed to take their chances against under-pressure Handsworth GSOB keeper Mark Crosby, his team pounced to score midway through the first and second 45 to gratefully capture three points at Sharmans Cross Road.
The opener resulted from a punishing cross from the byline when trusty home left back Jamie Rathbone, attempting to clear over the crossbar, headed an unfortunate own goal.
On 69 minutes, Daniel Sheldon somehow out muscled defender Tommy Smith to a through-ball, and rifled the shot into Silhill’s net.
