Silhill blown away by St Francis

St Francis 5 Silhill 1

St Francis 5 Silhill 1

AWAY at Warley Rugby Club, Tat Bank Rd, Oldbury, Silhill fell to an unparalleled 11-1 League double defeat at the hands of high-riding, in-form St Francis in the AFA Premier.

The visitors’ only goal joy during their bleak Black Country afternoon came a minute before half-time when their all-action man-of-the-match Danny Morris lashed in from six yards. He had profited from Cameron Knight’s mazy run down Sils’ left before crossing in with pinpoint accuracy.

That was the equaliser after St Francis’s man-of-the-match forward Steve Bissell recently returned from an ankle fracture sustained last year, had received from Joe Murphy to catch an indecisive Silhill defence napping.

After that it was one way traffic as St Francis rattled in another four. Several times Silhill had gone close to scoring but lady luck must have been straddling the St Francis crossbar.

Silhill were due to face Handsworth GSOB away on Tuesday in their final game of the season.
