Sutton United 3 Silhill 0
TRY as they might Silhill could not dent Sutton’s 100 per cent record.
The home side not only sit atop the Birmingham and District AFA Premier Division, but have won all their fixture so far.
So it was an uphill struggle from the off for the Sils, who found themselves behind to Jack Skinner’s ninth goal of the season after 19 minutes.
The ebb and flow of the game was disrupted by what was a scrappy first-half. It was not until the second 45 that Silhill began to pepper the Sutton goal in search of an equaliser.
Steve Smith, in a man-of-the-match performance, rattled the crossbar, but it was Sutton who netted next, George Ford squeezing a shot through the Sils defence.
As the visitors continued to push for a goal, Jack Skinner took advantage and rounded ‘keeper Andy Masters and finish off the game.
Silhill 3rds faired somewhat better, demolishing Urban Athtletic 8-0, with Bill Lambie scoring on his debut.
The 4ths also won, beating Crusaders 2nds in the Ben Hill Cup 4-2.
Silhill 1sts line-up against FISSC this weekend at Sharmans Cross Road, kick-off 2pm.
