Silhill Firsts opened up a comfortable cushion between them and the relegation zone – following two strong results over relegation rivals.
Silhill faced a double header of AFA Premier Division survival games, against Old Wulfrunians 1sts, and Walsall Phoenix 1sts – beating Old Wulfrunians 3-2, and sharing the spoils with Walsall Phoenix 1sts in a 2-2 draw.
The Solihull side took an early lead off a strike by David Icke.
After the break David Icke again put Silhill ahead, with a rasping 35 yard effort. But with just 23 minutes remaining, the Wolverhampton side managed an unlikely equaliser through Striker, Andy Mitchell.
Solihull snatched the win though, Nick Spencer shooting home late on to claim all three points.
That win put Silhill in a commanding position, yet a loss to Walsall would have cancelled out their three points earlier in the week, but Silhill fought on, coming away with a gritty 2-2 draw.
By half time, Silhill were in trouble, yet, after the break Silhill were gifted a penalty.
Minutes later David Icke put the Solihull side ahead powering his low shot into the back of the net.
But after a defensive
mix-up left Walsall striker Chris webber through on goal, he applied a simple finish to ensure the points were spread.
