Silhill 4, Sutton United 0
THE superior finishing power and goalkeeping of Premier Division Silhill made the difference on the day as they swept aside the potential banana skin of Division 1 Sutton United in an action-packed Senior Cup Round 3 clash at Sharmans Cross Road.
Hitting the back of the Sutton net in some style were Ross Jackson, (2), David Icke and Silhill’s Man-of-the-Match Lee Powell.
Also playing a key role was hands-like-flypaper goalkeeper Andy Masters, whose extraordinary, all-action performance had everything.
Powell netted after just 14 minutes before winning an impossible ball to pass to Icke, who duly found Jackson who placed the ball with cool assurance past the Sutton keeper.
In the 26th minute, an emergency ambulance was called for Sils’ braveheart centre half Jamie May, after he had sustained excruciatingly painful ankle ligament damage.
On came Silhill player-manager Tommy Smith.
Then, in the 59th minute, a storming attack was rounded off by Jackson, who had powered upfield to rifle in the 4-0 killer.
On Saturday Silhill play AFC Somers away in the AFA Premier, kick off 2pm.
