St Francis 0 Silhill 3
SILHILL completed a 7-0 aggregate AFA Premier double over St Francis on Saturday, the goals coming from Lee Powell, one in each half, sandwiching a strike by fellow forward David Icke.
However Silhill were fortunate that St Francis’s out-of-sorts striker Tim Sullivan had lost all of the deadly accuracy he had last season, when as a one-man-army he scored four against them.
Powell opened the scoring with a scorcher as Sullivan peppered everywhere but the Silhill goal.
For his goal, Icke dispossessed a home defender and remained relaxed before lashing in to make it 2-0. Livewire Icke played a key role too in the 90th minute as the provider for Powell, who turned smoothly in the St Francis area to rattle in the 3-0.
Saturday’s game away against Village gives Silhill the rare yet strong possibility this year of doing a League double over the odds-on Premier Division champions.
Meanwhile last Thursday Silhill downed the mighty and unbeaten Crusaders 3-1.
Sils goals came from Ross Jackson. Lee Powell and skipper Darren Lea while between the sticks Andy Masters denied the home side from the penalty spot.
Even more amazing, because of a late arrival and an injury suffered during the game, Silhill played for 70 minutes with only ten men.
