Solihull Moors 2
Harrogate Town 0
IT was the same starting line up for Moors on Tuesday night as last Saturday’s game 1-0 defeat to Brackley but this time Harrogate Town were the visitors - the second game against the North Yorkshire club in 10 days following Solihull’s away win.
The opening stages saw Moors taking the game to Harrogate but being caught in the offside trap whilst having to defend fast breakaways from the visitors.
On five minutes the dangerous Chilaka was through but Jas Singh dived at his feet to avert the danger. On 11 minutes Gary Birch found Dior Angus with a precision long ball and the Solihull winger slipped passed his defender and put the ball straight across the goal line but it was just cleared before the incoming Birch could convert.
Within a minute, a corner from Ryan Beswick needed a fingertip save from goal keeper MacGillivray to keep his club level.
The ball fell to Luke Connolly who crossed for a header by skipper Tom Kemp but the keeper was well positioned.
As the half reached midway, Beswick launched himself through the Town defence but having dribbled past three defenders he could not find the finishing touch.
With five minutes of the half left, both Darryl Knights and Bogle saw their goalbound efforts cleared and before this entertaining 45 minutes ended, Denny and Birch were also denied.
As Moors pushed forward, Knights picked up a poor clearance and dinked a short cross to Birch who produced a looping header over the keeper and in for Solihull’s first goal on the hour mark.
It was Knights again who dribbled past two defenders and with the keeper out of position, slid a killer pass for Angus to slot home for Moors second on 63 minutes.
As the half ebbed away, Harrogate did all they could to hit back and keep alive their play off aspirations but to no avail.
Solihull travel to promoted Chester this Saturday for their last away game, before entertaining Histon next Tuesday and the final game Workington on Saturday, April 27.
