Two goal Ross Jackson wins it for Silhill against Cresconians

SILHILL faced a much-changed Cresconians line-up from the one they crushed 12-1 away at Oldbury in September in the AFA Premier.

However in the end, two goals by Ross Jackson and one from Lee Powell shaded it in their favour.

They were helped by some terrific saves by Sils’ golden goalie Andy Masters and last-ditch clearances by Steve Powell, Jamie Rathbone, Tommy Smith and Karl Rogerson who kept Sils afloat.

Despite late pressure, Sils hung on for a welcome three points that will keep their ambitions alive for Birmingham County Vase entry next season.

This Saturday they will host local rivals Shirley Athletic in what is sure to be a titanic, no-holds-barred battle between two teams only too familiar with each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
