DESPITE beginning the better of the two teams, the Earls found themselves a goal down within ten minutes when a deflected free kick found its way into the net.
They were unlucky not to equalise though when a Tommy Cleaver lob hit the top of the police cross bar. But with 42 minutes on the clock, the Earls got the goal they were desperately searching for when Keith Rosthill’s shot from just inside the area passed under the diving goalkeeper.
Both defences were on top in the second half and it took 72 minutes before the ball was in the back of the police net, only for it to be ruled offside. But with just nine minutes to go, Leon Mooney for the Earls put through sub Jacob Snipe, who had all the time in the world to side foot past the WMP goalkeeper.
