Solihull Cycling Club’s top woman time trial rider Cath Ward took another first in a fiercely contested five mile race against the clock organised by the Midlands Cycling and Athletics Club.
The course, starting in Chadwick End and finishing at Fen End, saw Cath clock 14 mins, 14 secs comfortably ahead of the seven female competitors, with Chris Jones from the host club taking second place 14:51.
At the same event, Solihull CC’s Doug Clements and Ian Sharman took fourth and fifth in the men’s event, 13: 28 and 14:4. Grigor Wallace for Midland Racing won with an impressive time of 10:22.
The European Track Masters Championships Manchester last month saw veteran racer David Rutherford representing Solihull CC.
David competed in the 60-64 Individual 2K Pursuit and got through qualifying into the ride-off for the bronze medal with a time of 2:42.
However, a similar time in the ride-off against Graham Truelove of Lichfield CC meant he had to settle for fourth.
In the 40 lap Points race David took a highly respectable sixth place in the strong European field.
