TALENTED young athlete Ryan Nimmons picked up his award for Solihull Schools Partnership Young Sportsperson of the Year this week.
At just 15, Ryan has already picked up a string of sporting achievements, but is being especially recognised for his cross-country efforts.
The Lyndon School pupil, who runs for the Solihull and Small Heath Athletics Club, was the Solihull Cross-Country League champion in 2008, a feat he has repeated this year. Competing in the English Schools competition at Sandford Hall in Leicestershire he was the first boy home from the West Midlands.
Not content with being the best at cross-country, Ryan is also the Solihull Schools 800m champion.
Willing to try his hand at anything, the whole school is proud of his efforts, according to PE teacher Lisa Edwards.
“The whole school and PE department are very proud of him,” she said. “When he competes for his club, he is prepared to do anything.”
Ryan is the first pupil from Lyndon School to be awarded the accolade.
He is also a keen footballer, playing for Olton Ravens.
