Knowle Village 242-9
Aston Unity 205-7
KNOWLE Village welcomed Aston Unity CC to Hampton Lane and duly flew out of the blocks with Sean Dunne taking a liking to the bowling of Unity and getting Knowle to 32-0 off the first six overs.
However, two quick wickets made it 48-2 with skipper Martin Richmond joining Joe Jarema at the crease.
They set about recovering from the early setback but with seven balls to go before the break Jarema (49) was out with the score on 124-3.
All-rounder Michael Dinneny (46) kept the scoreboard ticking over and the tail wagged too as they reached a total of 242-9.)
Aston Unity’s reply suffered some early scares and their tactic of blocking from the outset ensured Knowle would have a frustrating afternoon.
However, just when Knowle’s patience was beginning to wear thin, Charlie Rowe (1-16) had Heath caught behind and Chris Khumalo (1-29) dismissed O’Malley.
However Unity continued to frustrate the Knowle attack as Wilson (30), Nicholas (47) and Joe Broughton (30) all continued to dig in and battle towards the losing draw.
Unity finished on 205-7 leaving Knowle with the winning draw and 17points for their efforts.
This weekend Knowle Village visit promotion rivals Solihull Municipal.
