RENAULT Solihull Barons had a successful weekend after two victories in both the league and the cup.
On Saturday, the Barons faced Lancashire Raptors in Blackburn, with the visitors going a goal up in the third minute, thanks to Eric Bakalar.
A four minute goal blitz followed, which saw Alex Jones, Andy Ayers and Ed Slater all register scores for Solihull. Jones completed his hat-trick in the 16th minute as the Barons cruised into the lead 6-1.
Phil Lee and Alex Jones both scored in the second period, before the home side finally added two goals to their tally in the third and final period to see the game finish 8-3.
On Sunday, the Barons had to travel to Deeside to play Flintshire Freeze in the cup. In the 16th minute, Richard Slater put the Barons in front with a well taken goal, and they went further ahead when Rob Eley scored in the 19th minute and Alex Jones 30 seconds later in the first period.
The second period was all Freeze and saw them pull two goals back before Richard Slater scored the Barons fourth goal.
Freeze scored a third goal 12 seconds before the end of the period but it wasn’t enough as the Barons skated off 4-3 victors.
