Renault Solihull Barons had another successful weekend with an away win at Grimsby Redwings on Saturday 9-0 and at home on Sunday in front of a 500 plus crowd.

On Saturday the Barons, with five senior players serving Fighting match bans, introduced four of the under 18 junior players, Hammerton, James, Smith and Winwood. They all had plenty of ice time and played well.

Barons were nearly back to full strength on Sunday versus Lancashire Raptors including new signing Jack Robinson signed from Milton Keynes.

The Barons didn’t have the best of starts, conceding two early goals. They got back to 2-2 but went behind again. Instead of dropping their heads, Barons stepped up a gear and scored four goals in three minutes.

They finished the first period 7-3. They Barons really turned it on in the second period, playing some good fast passing hockey with sharp finishing.

At the end of the period, the score was 13-4. Again in the final period, it was the Barons remaining on top scoring another five goals with Lancashire 1

The final score was 18-5. Adams and Bakalar scored four each, Richard Slater three, Jones and Lee two, and McKinnon, Robinson and Buckland one each.

Next Sunday’s match is a cup tie versus Blackburn Hawks who are in the division above the Barons so it should be a good exciting game at Solihull Ice Rink face-off 6-15.
