SOLIHULL Barons dished out a home-and-away thumping to the Bradford Bulldogs to leave the club just two victories away from securing the ENL North Division 2 league title, writes Matt Johnson.

This result came just 24 hours after the Barons had beaten the same opposition 14-0.

The first period was tight, the only goal coming 50 seconds from time through Richard Slater.

The Barons added a further five in the second period. Slater grabbed his second before star man Dean Tonks netted the first of his four goals. Slater then completed his hat-trick, before Tonks and Adam Andrews capped off a dominant period.

Captain Rob Eley and Charlie Hammerton hit the seventh and eighth before Tonks notched two more. Eley grabbed his second two minutes from time before Lui Brindle capped off the comprehensive win.

Barons Head Coach Darren Bellerby said: “It was a slow start, but I’m happy with the results and pleased that we managed to shut them out in both games. It’s good that the defence is doing well and we’re obviously scoring enough goals.”

The coach for the game away to Kingston Jets leaves at 12pm on Sunday February 13 and is priced at £10 per person. Contact john.butler2@btconnect.com to reserve seats.
