Renault Solihull Barons 2 - 5 Sheffield Spartans

BARONS took the lead against their tough opponents - who are cup holders and play in the league above - through Erik Bakalar.

Solihull were competing well before Luke Thomas was penalised for tripping - Sheffield taking advantage of the power play to equalise. Sheffield went further ahead as the first period ended 1-2.

Sheffield applied pressure in the second period and most of the play was up the Barons’ end. This resulted in two further goals for Spartans, who scored in the 31st and 34th minute.

The Barons upped their pace though and were unlucky on several occasions, but they did manage to pull a goal back in the 36th minute when Jack Robinson scored.

The final period was well contested by both teams, but Sheffield made the game safe just minutes from the end when they scored their fifth and final goal.
