ERIK Bakalar hit a hat-trick as Renault
Solihull Barons hammered struggling Bradford Bulldogs to help kick-start their season.
The hosts were ahead after just six minutes through Andy Eyres and Dale White added another after the Bulldogs had responded with a powerplay goal.
A Barons penalty again gave the Bulldogs the advantage of an extra man and they made no mistakes scoring another powerplay goal after 18 minutes.
Bakalar struck the first of his three goals before turning provider for Neil Adams just minutes later.
The Barons increased their lead later in the period with goals from Bakalar and Rob Eley.
Bakalar completed his hat-trick and Adam Richardson got on the scoresheet before fans’ favourite Phil Lee tucked a wrist shot into the top corner.
The Bradford Bulldogs, once more on a powerplay, scored their third goal despite some cracking saves and a strong performance throughout by netminder Stephen Doyle.
Barons’ Martin Misak wrapped up the scoring late on.
The result leaves the Barons fourth in North Division Two, but just a point behind third-placed Flintshire.’
