Olton and WW CC’s batsmen dominated their match at Nuneaton on Saturday in the Warwickshire Cricket League Premier division.
Put into bat on a pitch which it was thought may help the bowlers early on, Olton’s openers Ed Sykes and captain for the day Michael Ceillam struggled against good bowling particularly from Lee McNeill whose first six overs produced figures of 2 -12 as Olton struggled to 23-2.
However Sykes survived the initial attack and was joined by Nathan Docker to post an enormous stand of 222 for the third wicket.
Docker was first out for 124 including 12 fours and 2 sixes off 107 balls while Sykes made 105 with 14 fours off 145 balls as Olton compiled a massive 263-5 off their 50 overs.
Nuneaton never really took up the challenge. Blower top scored with 38 as Darren Kok bowled 10 overs 1-9 and Scott Ellis 2-23 off 11 and ended on 131-6 with Docker also getting two wickets.
This winning draw keeps Olton in contention with two big games coming up against Bablake and league leaders Streetly in the next two matches.
