West Bromwich 5, Yardley 1

West Bromwich 5, Yardley 1

YARDLEY’S struggles continued in their final ENER-G West Midlands League 2 match of the season against third place West Brom.

However their young side rode out the early pressure and looked dangerous on the counter attack, and but for two defensive errors would have been all square at half time.

West Bromwich made a quick start to the second half and went on to score five, although Ibrar Ahmed pulled one back for Yardley.

The club is preparing to celebrate its 80th birthday. The club began its days as Birmingham Municipal Hockey Club during 1932-33 and now plays at Small Heath Leisure Centre.

The club earned the national Clubmark Award in 2006-7 and in 2008-9 won ‘Club of the Year’ for its commitment to young people.

The club is actively looking for new players for next season. Just visit /
