Solihull Blossomfield Mixed 4

THE quarter finals of the National Mixed Plate found Bloss in Gloucester and a nervy start saw them concede a goal after a defensive mix-up.

However this shook them into life and the pressure paid off when a good move was finished by Nicky Horton.

It wasn’t long before they took the lead after another well worked team goal was finished off by Amelia Thompson.

Bloss looked to have put the game beyond the hosts when Eddie James slotted home a third with 10 minutes of the first half still to play.

However Gloucester rallied and thanks to a wicked deflection from a short corner pulled back another goal.

Gloucester now had the wind in their sails as the second half started and poured forward with last ditch tackles by Tom Bates, Andy Spence and Vicki Shuter only just holding the line.

Bloss were also creating chances at the other end and Nicky Horton scored with 12 minutes left to make it 2-4 and send the travelling supporters crazy in celebration.

The results puts Blossomfield into the Finals weekend for the second successive year. Man of the match was awarded to Andrew Spence.

The Finals will be hosted at Beeston Hockey club in Nottingham on June 8/9 and all support will be gratefully received.
