Blythe Barracudas make waves

THE second round of the Nuneaton Junior League saw Blythe Barracudas’ A and B teams in action at Worcester and Tamworth.

THE second round of the Nuneaton Junior League saw Blythe Barracudas’ A and B teams in action at Worcester and Tamworth.

The A team was triumphant at their fixture at Worcester, collecting 236 points to keep them at the top of the Division 2 table.

For the girls, there were wins for Carmen Whaley in the 9 years 25m breaststroke, Erin Molloy in the 10s 50m breaststroke, Charlotte Rigg in the 11s 50m breaststroke, Alyssa Morrison in the 11s 50m backstroke, Ella Reel in the 12s 50m breaststroke and Rosie Breslin in the 12s 50m backstroke.

The nine-year-old boy’s team were on form with victories for Freddie Truman and Harry Jones in the 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle. The 11-year-old boys also excelled, winning their individual and relay events. Fraser Blackhurst triumphed in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, Tom Jones the 50m butterfly and Jacob Redden the 50m breaststroke.

In a thrilling fixture on the same night, the B Team pulled out all the stops to finish in second place, moving the team up to sixth position in the 3rd Division, and the potential to bag a place in the finals.

It was success for nine-year-old’s Emma Gowing and Louie Green in the 25m breaststroke, 10-year-old Zack Keavney in the 50m backstroke, 11-year-olds William Thompson and Jack Talbot in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke and 12-year-old Sophie Wright in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.
