Knowle & Dorridge 206
AFTER a rain-hit start to the Birmingham premier division season Knowle & Dorridge leapt into life on Saturday away at Wellington.
However skipper Jamie Spiers admitted to having private fears after the Shropshire side posted 202 on a damp wicket.
“It had been bone dry here when we left but it had rained overnight up there and when they scored 202 it was a concern. I didn’t say anything to the guys but I thought it was way too many.”
Instead opener Dave Smith turned in an old-fashioned steady performance to record 38 while Attiq Chishti and Luke Parker ripped into the Wellington bowlers to compile 54 and 71 respectively. By the 51st over they had rattled off 206 to secure the match by five wickets.
“The important thing was that we got the win under our belts, it was the same side as last week and we’ll have more confidence,” said Spiers.
“Also we beat Walmley on Sunday in the National Knock Out Trophy which means we’ve won four from five in all competitions.”
K&D take on Leamington on Saturday at 12noon.
